A téma rövid leírása, a kidolgozandó feladat részletezése:
A szélsőpontosságú GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) mérések egyik szabályos hibája az antenna környezetében található objektumokról visszavert műholdjelek által okozott többutas terjedés hatása, mivel a vevők a direkt és a visszavert (reflektált) jelek interferenciájaként előállt elektromágneses hullámokat mérik.
A reflexió erőssége, illetve a reflektált jel teljesítményének hullámhossza egyrészről függ a visszaverő felület dielektromos állandójától, illetve annak antennától való távolságától. Ily módon, a többutas terjedés mérhető hatásának vizsgálatával következtetni tudunk a visszaverődést okozó felület (pl. vízfelület, talaj, hó, növényzet) helyzetére, illetve pl. a talaj nedvességtartalmára is.
A jelen doktori kutatásban a jelölt számítási eljárásokat dolgoz ki a reflektált GNSS jelek információtartalmának kinyerésére, így GNSS mérések vízszintmérésre, hóvastagságmérésre, talajnedvesség-mérésre, vegetációs index becslésére történő alkalmazására (GNSS-R alkalmazások).
A kifejlesztett algoritmusokat többfrekvenciás geodéziai, illetve egyfrekvenciás alacsony költségigényű GNSS vevőkkel is teszteli különféle műhold konstellációk felhasználásával (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Beidou).
A GNSS jelek reflexiói a különféle rendszerek műholdjainak együttes észleléseinek köszönhetően nagy kiterjedésű vízfelületek feltérképezésére is felhasználható. A jelölt megvizsgálja, hogy egyetlen, illetve néhány GNSS vevő együttes méréseiből miként vezethető le a reflektált jelekből egy nagyobb kiterjedésű vízfelület felszínmodellje, illetve abból a különféle irányú vízszint-profilok.
Folyók vízállásainak hosszú időtávon történő vizsgálatának jelentős korlátja, hogy a telepített vízmércék talppontjainak a regionális recens felszínmozgások okozta elmozdulásai torzítják a mérési eredményeket. A jelölt a reflektált GNSS mérések felhasználásával eljárást dolgoz ki GNSS-R technológián alapuló automatikus vízmércék megvalósítására, amellyel a vízszint abszolút értelemben is meghatározható a folyamatos (permanens) GNSS méréseknek köszönhetően.
A jelölt kutatásokat végez a szoftveres GNSS vevőkkel történő Doppler-késés térképek előállítására vonatkozóan. A jelspektrum elemzésével módszertant fejleszt ki a földre telepített, illetve pilótanélküli légijárműre (UAV) helyezett szoftveres GNSS vevő méréseinek feldolgozására a vízfelületek hullámzási paramétereinek meghatározására.

One of the major error sources of high-precision GNSS positioning is the multipath effect caused by the reflected satellite signals of objects located in the vicinity of the GNSS antenna. Due to this effect, GNSS receivers measure the superposition of the direct and reflected signals.
The absolute power of the superposed signal and its variation strongly depend on the dielectric coefficient of the material and the location of the reflecting surface. Thus, the observation of multipath effects can be used to derive the level of the reflecting surface (water, ground, snow, vegetation, etc.) and the variation of material properties, such as the moisture content of the soil.
The candidate shall develop computational procedures to extract the information content of the GNSS signals applicable for various GNSS-R applications, such as water level measurements, snow depth measurements, soil-moisture observations and vegetation index estimations.
The developed algorithms must be tested with both high-precision multi-frequency geodetic, and single frequency, low cost GNSS receivers. The candidate must test the algorithms with different satellite navigation signals (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Beidou) and evaluate the performance of various constellations and satellite signals. Furthermore, he/she proposes the optimal satellite signals to be used for various GNSS-R applications.
Based on the mathematical and observational experiences, optimal procedures will be developed to estimate a wide variety of environmental parameters, such as water levels of rivers and lakes (GNSS stream gauge), soil moisture, snow depth and vegetation index.
Simultaneous observation of reflected signals stemming from different satellites of different satellite constellations are supposed to be used to map the water level of large water bodies. The candidate will develop a new methodology for the formulation of surface models and water level profiles of such water bodies using single and multiple GNSS stations.
One of the limitations of the analysis of historical water level observations is that recent regional crustal deformations modify the index level of the stream gauge. The candidate will develop an automatic, GNSS-R based stream gauge, that is capable to monitor both the water level and the vertical displacements of the gauge simultaneously in time.
Dynamic reflecting surfaces, such as water waves, affect not only the power of the signal, but the shape of the spectrum of the reflected signal. These signals can be used to derive Doppler-delay maps (DDMs), that can be utilized to estimate the direction and the amplitudes of the waves. The candidate will investigate the possibilities of the application of software-based GNSS receivers to derive DDMs and derive a methodology to the estimation of the aforementioned wave parameters using ground based and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) based GNSS observations.
