Fan vaulting, the emblematic, breathtaking structural form of English Gothic architecture, gradually developed from the middle of XIVth century until about the middle of XVIth century. There exist different variations of the generator curve shape and of the groundplan. The literature is very poor in analysing how the internal forces depend on the different geometries.
The task is to prepare discrete element models for the different existing gometries, and compare how they carry their selfweight.
The task is mostly suggested to MSc students who have successfully completed or just attend the course "Discrete Element Method".
