The Water and Hydro-Environmental Engineering specialization aims to impart a comprehensive body of knowledge tailored to the multidisciplinary nature of regional and municipal water management. A fundamental objective is for graduates of the specialization to be able to identify problems affecting the professional field and independently solve issues related to various areas of water management, as well as to master the methods of systematizing knowledge, comprehensive problem-solving, and the methodologies of expert consultancy and research and development.

In the specialization, students deepen and expand the knowledge acquired in their bachelor's studies, thereby becoming qualified to undertake high-level, lead designer, expert, and research tasks. Graduates can participate in leading engineering positions to develop engineering solutions for global challenges, such as water scarcity caused by climate change, flash floods and urban or regional flooding, anthropogenic environmental pollution, morphodynamic changes in rivers, or even river forecasting systems.

Furthermore, they become capable of designing complex water regulation and flow control structures, assessing the exploitability of groundwater, and implementing integrated water management. Students acquire the technical, social, and ethical knowledge, along with the necessary competencies, to fill prominent engineering positions and perform these duties. During the program, they master topic-specific fundamental design and management principles, as well as climate-adaptive design and dimensioning procedures. They will also be capable of the advanced use of modern numerical and geographic information (GIS) tools and systems.
