We offer scholarships for international students to come to Budapest and study at BME.

If you are interested about scholarships for your studies here in Hungary, depending on your country of residence you can apply for one of the following:

Stipendium Hungaricum

Stipendium Hungaricum, the Hungarian Government’s most prestigious higher education scholarship programme, offers a wide range of courses for high-achieving international students with an excellent academic track record. The scholarship aims to support the internationalisation of Hungarian higher education and its constant development, strengthen the international relations of the academic and research community, and promote the good reputation and competitiveness of Hungarian higher education worldwide.

The programme, founded by the Hungarian Government in 2013, is supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and managed by the Tempus Public Foundation.

It is based on bilateral education agreements between Hungary and the governments of the sending countries. It is available on five continents in over 100 countries, attracting tens of thousands of international students each year. Applicants are offered around 900 full degree programmes, covering all higher education fields at all degree levels, including part-time and doctoral programmes.

The fact that over 91% of our scholarship holders would choose Hungary again is a testament to the programme’s quality and motivates us to further expand the scope of the scholarship in the future.

Scholarship Programme for Christian Young People

Scholarship Programme for Christian Young People (hereinafter: Scholarship Programme) is a scholarship programme established by the Government of Hungary in the spirit of the policy of solidarity towards persecuted Christian religious minorities. The aim of the Scholarship Programme is to enable Christian young people from crisis regions of the world who are subject to religious persecution, threats, or restrictions on the free exercise of religion in their home countries to pursue higher education in Hungary. An important added value of the scholarship programme is that young people return home after their years of study to contribute to their communities and country.

Since the start of the scholarship programme, 323 people have graduated in Hungary, 8 people earned a PhD degree and more than 160 students are currently studying in 14 higher education institutions.

Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship

The Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship was established by the Hungarian Government for those who live in a Hungarian diaspora outside of Europe and wish to study at a Hungarian higher education institution to develop their personal, professional and cultural relations to Hungary.

The programme aims to support the professional advancement of the scholarship holders with high-quality Hungarian higher education while improving their Hungarian language skills and strengthening their Hungarian identity. After graduation, scholarship holders return to their home country with competitive skills and knowledge that enables them to support their community, preserve Hungarian values and reinforce the relations between the diaspora and Hungary.
