Mosoni-Duna flood gate – hydrodynamic studies

During the various phases of designing the Mosoni-Duna flood gate, the VVT supported the work with detailed numerical simulations and physical scale model experiments. Using these, we determined and refined the hydraulic design of the structure, ensuring its efficient, safe, and long-term sustainable operation.

MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd.

Since 2011, our department has conducted biennial control measurements of the height reference network of MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. and determined the movements of the reference points. This work is presented on a poster on the website of the MMK Geodesy and Geoinformatics Section. At the request of MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd., we carried out expert activities related to the technology used for determining the reactor axis tilt and the position of the core basket. Our department prepared the quality management plan for the geodetic work carried out at the site of MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. in 2002, and then updated it in 2011. In connection with the lifetime extension of the reactor blocks of MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd., we measured the deformations of Block II’s localization tower caused by overpressure in 2008.

Bridge of National Unity

The 700-meter-long structure called the Bridge of National Unity connects Szárhegy and Várhegy at a height of 80 meters. Its design involved researchers from the Department of Bridges and Structures, the Department of Geotechnics and Engineering Geology, and the Department of General and Advanced Geodesy of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at BME, as well as researchers from the Department of Fluid Mechanics of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
