Algorithmic Modelling and Automation of Engineering Workflows in Grasshopper
Description

Algorithmic design methods enable the flexible creation and modification of complex geometric models and the partial or complete automation of repetitive design and analysis tasks. Within this topic, the student develops an algorithmic model of a civil engineering structure or structural component of their choice using Rhino/Grasshopper, with the possibility of integrating other CAD or engineering software where appropriate.

The objective is not only to create a geometric model, but to develop an algorithmic workflow that makes a specific design or modelling task more efficient, automated, or easier to modify. The student documents the structure of the proposed solution, including its parameters and geometric relationships, and evaluates its advantages compared with a conventional modelling workflow. The work also includes at least one engineering analysis, simulation, or optimisation performed using the developed model, followed by an evaluation of the results.
