Registrations for new staff members
The sequence of necessary registrations is as follows:
1. Registration in the Neptun system.
2. BME Directory: set password for your edu ID (generated automatically for all users registered in Neptun)
3. Registering an M365 account with an email address @emk.bme.hu (at the same site)
4. Registration to the BME phone book https://telefon.bme.hu and request a phone number (ask for assistance at your Department if necessary)
5. Registration to MTMT (publication management system) - done automatically by the University for PhD students: https://mtmt.hu
6. Add new staff member to the staff list: the administration is requested by the Department at the IT management (Gyula Bögöly, József Árpád Somogyi). The database is updated on the third week of each semester. Individual updates are also possible on request.
7. Logging into the Educational Framework using the edu ID (should be followed by the assignment of the system role "Teacher" to the new staff member, ask for assistance at your Department if necessary)
8. Request University entrance card (through the administrative staff of the Department)
Request a Neptun user ID for web login
For requesting an identifier for staff members not yet having a Neptun code (identifier), as well as for data refreshment of staff members with an existing identifier, the same (first) form on page https://kth.bme.hu/magunkrol/neptun-uzemeltetes/neptunrol/regisztracios-urlapok// should be completed. According to the policy of the Faculty, all staff members are provided with a Neptun identifier. The administration is done with the assistance of the Department.
Request a Neptun client (for Neptun administrators)
The installation of a Neptun client for any workstation available at a new IP address is only possible after registration; all necessary documents can be downloaded from https://www.kth.bme.hu/magunkrol/neptun-uzemeltetes/neptunrol/regisztracios-urlapok//. WARNING: If there are already registered IP addresses, the newly submitted list should contain all existing IPs together with the new one, otherwise the registration to all IPs will be cancelled except for those on the list. The administration is done with the assistance of the Department.
Having the registration completed, the new staff member should log in to https://kth.bme.hu/magunkrol/neptun-uzemeltetes/neptunrol/neptun-kliensek-letoltese/ using the existing edu ID, then all files under menu item PRD should be downloaded and installed.
IMPORTANT: general (non-administrative) staff members can use the Neptun system after logging into through the web; they usually do not need any client or IP registration.
General information
University M365 employee account (xxx@bme.hu or xxx@emk.bme.hu) is only available for full-time employees at the University (i.e., whose ID number ("SZTSZ") in the HR management system starts by the digit 1).
All new faculty email addresses have a uniform layout: family_name.first_name@emk.bme.hu.
A link on terms and conditions of the university M365 employee account is available here (in Hungarian).
Non-full-time employees (PhD students, demonstrators, etc.) can register an @edu.bme.hu email address at the page below:
https://login.bme.hu/en/
For further assistance, contact the representative of Faculty IT Committee at your Department.
Request an email account
On the first admission (i.e., for those having not yet been employed by the University),the Directorate for Informatics receives an automatic request for generating a new university M365 employee account for them through the system SAP.
In all other cases, the Department of the new staff member has to send a request to the e-mail address support@bme.hu with the subject email igénylés (e-mail request). The request must contain:
- the full name of the new staff member;
- an external e-mail address off the new staff member to send username/password to;
- the full name of the organization unit (department) of the new staff member;
- the HR ID of the new staff member.
- The new staff member has already to be registered in the BME Directory; ask for assistance of the HR colleagues if needed.
Mailing options
- Correspondence via browser: after logging into office.com with edu ID, the online Outlook application becomes available.
- Correspondence with a preinstalled Outlook client: The software offers the registration of a new account on startup; here the new faculty e-mail address should be entered, and after an edu ID identification at the BME Directory, the account is ready to use within the client. The synchronisation with the mail server might take several minutes.
- Correspondence with other mailing client: the university IT support team takes no responsibility for other mailing clients, but it might be worth asking their assistance if needed at support@bme.hu.
Managing the addresses of departing staff members
For departing staff members, the following form (about deleting the university M365 employee account) should be filled by the organisation unit of the staff member.
According to the IT Policy, after leaving, university M365 employee email addresses (@bme.hu or @emk.bme.hu) cannot be redirected to a personal (external) email address, but you can request to keep all previous correspondence or forward new incoming mail to a specified employee address belonging to the organisation unit using the form above.
Setting a wired internet connection and IP address can be made with the assistance of the IT staff of the Department.
Setting WiFi connection: the use of "eduroam" network is recommended: one can connect with edu ID or faculty email address and password. About further settings, e.g., with mobile devices, see https://net.bme.hu/wlan/eduroam-bme.php

The educational framework is built upon a Moodle architecture. Users can upload learning materials by semesters and courses; those materials can be either simple static files or interactive learning or assessment materials.
Courses are closed and archived at the end of each semester; and a copy is open for the current semester. This way, all former materials and assessment results remain vailable under the menu item "previous semesters" (materials archived before the spring semester of 2025 can be found at https://archive36.epito.moodle.bme.hu/ ). We kindly ask all users to pay attention to upload materials to the current semester only; as well as to avoid multiple storage of large files.
The educational framework is available at https://edu.epito.bme.hu. All the above information is contained by the page https://edu.epito.bme.hu/course/view.php?id=3365 after login.
